Audi R8 V10

Audi is cranking up the juice on its flagship R8 sports car with the introduction of the Audi R8
V10 5.2 FSI quattro, which got an early reveal on the web today. The Audi R8 shares some less visible bits with its corporate cousin, the Lamborghini Gallardo, but until now the Lambo's V10 engine has remained exclusive to the Italian side of the family. The Audi R8 V10 will be the street going version of the Audi R8 LMS that debuted a couple of weeks ago at the Essen Motor Show in Germany.

It's 5.2L V10 is rated at 525 horsepower and 390.91 lb-ft of torque in European spec form. Those numbers fall a bit shy of the latest Lambo Gallardo LP560-4 even with the same displacement, which ensures that the Lambo can still command a price premium over the German machine. The U.S. version of the Audi R8 V10 should remain pretty close to these numbers. That will be enough to push the 0-62 sprint under four seconds to 3.9 seconds. Unfortunately, the R8 is still saddled with the same craptastic 6-speed R-tronic as the only alternative to its proper manual gearbox.

The Audi R8 V10 now also inches closer to the magical 200 mph mark with a terminal velocity of 196 mph. The Audi R8 V10 version gets a new set of all-LED headlights for both high and low beams and the scoops on the side blades now bulge out to suck in the extra air needed to feed and cool the larger engine and new design wheels and tires. A new rear diffuser also helps keep the rear end planted where a set of twin oval tailpipes replace the quad exhausts on the standard model. The R8 V10 will be available in Germany starting next spring with a base price of EUR 142,400 (approx $180,000) and will make its official debut in January at the 2009 Detroit Auto Show. This car now should hang with some serious motorcycles now.

The Hydrogen Super Car: RMC Scorpion



Here is the RMC Scorpion supercar, created by Ronn Motor Company. This car uses a revolutionary gas fuel injection system that mixes hydrogen with petrol and injects it into the air-intake manifold. Then hydrogen comes from the water stored into an on-board 1.5 gallon tank. It means that it has better performance and less fuel consumption. Ronn Motor Company has announced two versions of the Scorpion, one powered by a 300 hp 3.5 liter Honda V6 returning 40 mpg and the other one powered by a twin-turbocharged HX version of the same engine, which delivers 450 hp, goes from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds and goes over 200 mph. Body Lift

A body lift is a common and cheap method to run larger tires on a vehicle. It involves installing a puck where the body mounts to the frame in order to increase the clearance between tires and the body. The New Mastretta MXT coupe

Sports car manufacturer of Mastretta with its 150mph MXT coupe, is the first car ever to be designed and made in Mexico.

It will makes its world debut in London this coming July 22, in its ‘penultimate prototype’ form. RHD production is expected to start this January 2009, and only limited to 80 cars per year.

As well as its impressive top speed, the MXT can hit 60mph in under five seconds and its 2.0-litre supercharged Duratec engine produces 240bhp. With the car weighing just 900kg, that means 267bhp per tonne – almost 50bhp more than a Porsche Cayman S manages.

The Mastretta MXT coupe also vastly undercuts the German coupe, with a price of £32,995. You can see it on Stand N10 at the ExCeL arena.

Audi announced in 2005 that the name of the successful Audi R8 race car would be used for a new car road in 2007, the Audi R8, is based on the Audi Le Mans quattro car concept, which was based on the earlier Audi RSQ concept vehicle, appearing at the 2003 Geneva Auto Show and 2003 International Motor Show.


The R8 was launched officially at the Paris Auto Show on 30 September 2006. There is some confusion with the name which the car shares with the Le Mans winning R8 LMP. Originally, many thought the car would be called the R9 (as there is a gap in numbering left when Audi announced the R8's successor, the diesel-powered R10).

Pricing for the R8 model starts at around €88,000, although in Ireland, due to high VRT, the base price of the R8 is about €160,000. The base price in the US is $109,000.

The Porsche Cayman S Porsche Design Edition 1 ($TBA; Jan. 200 is a limited edition (only 777 are made) black beauty, featuring a triple racing stripe, blacked out interior, 19-inch wheels, and a lower stance. The 295-hp ride also comes with a briefcase containing Porsche Design’s Flat Six Chronograph watch, a pocket knife, a pair of sunglasses, a pen, and a key ring.
